Quickie

Tomorrow, super early in the morning, I pile into my car with some amazing people to drive to Feasterville, PA. "What the heck is there?!" you ask? The Philly Roller Girls are hosting the 2013 East Coast Derby Extravaganza !!! I'm skating with the Cherry Bombs on Saturday... then it's all about watching the action and cheering my idols on while kicking back with my  Derby Family for an amazing time! So... These crappy 10 hour work days I have been putting in... worth it. Happy Skating folks! Let's do this!

Actions and Reactions (Strong Language Happens kids)

A week with Glass already? Yesiree. It has been a whole week! (Well, a whole week as of 2:05pm. Semantics!) Reactions have ranged from intrigued Apparently all E-man talks about now is Glass Picture! Joe got to try them on after I took this! To downright confused Thistle did not seem to like or understand it. A few people even wanted to try them on. And so, there are a lot of pictures of me from this weekend. Cheese! Out and about in public, most folks looked twice but then ignored me. Very few people asked what I had on my head. Come to think of it, only the waitress at the diner we went to Saturday asked. (Delicious, by the way. If you are every in Northwood, NH... go here . Amazing!) So, all in all I had positive reactions. So, what did I do with my weekend? Friday night I had Cherry Bombs practice. I took a few videos just skating. It appears I lost the one with my teammate Deckerson... so, here is one of just me skating around (hope this vide...

Glass so Far

Today is actually day 3 with Glass (if you count the day I picked them up). Getting my Glass unit was an adventure all it's own. I am about to WOW you with my magical tale of Wonder and Amazement (not really). On Wednesday I, and my dear friend Angela, left from her house in Brattleboro, VT and began our adventure. We bopped along and discussed the secrets of the universe, as women are wont to do when you men-folk are not around. All the things we keep from you dudes, yep... we talked about that. And then, before we knew it (3.5 hours later)... we were there! Can you hear the Angels? We didn't either. We found a decent (though expensive) parking garage, and went to wander Chelsea Market while we waited for my appointment time. I should have taken more pictures of our wandering, but I was too nervous and excited. Every geek bone in my body was vibrating with excitement.  We ate at a nifty hipster vegan sushi place called Beyond Sushi. It was delicious! But, I miss...

Couting Down

I am counting down the days until Google Glass is mine! As of right now, it is 45 hours and  20 minutes. And the clock keeps ticking. I still have my GoFundMe up, and plan to link here to there in an update. No, there have not been many donations, but I don't expect there will be. I cannot wait to share the adventures and my reviews of this amazing technology. On to other things. My motorcycle should be ready (I hope) by the end of the week. Yes, I missed all of Bike Week up here in NH. But, next year. The hubby is also looking in to a new bike for himself. We have been discussing the prospect for a while. And really, he is a tall dude, he needs something bigger. He looks a little ridiculous right now. Okay, not THIS ridiculous, but still...  I hope that one day, after we get into a house, the hubby and I will each have larger touring bikes for longer distances, and 'around town' or "show off" bikes for everything else. Next topic... I am sorta off s...

"If I were to retire from skating, I would... "

This happy little blog has sat dormant for a while now. So, I am going to fill in some. I have a lot of exciting things on the near horizon, and some terrifying prospects. EEP! Okay, maybe they are not so scarey, but these are things I find... scarey! See the title? Okay, this is where we are headed today. The first super exciting thing is that I am, in just 5 days, headed to New York City to pick up my very own pair of Google Glass . I am excited for all the mundane and silly things I will get to do with these. GPS on the motorcycle, video and picture adventures, training for roller derby, realms events, hiking, roller coasters... oh so much more! The downside is the price tag. So, I started a GoFundMe to help defer the cost. I have a $20 donation, so the first official Glass Blog will be dedicated to a dear friend from derby. The second super exciting thing is the prospect of learning heavy list for an ACL Women's League for the Battle of the Nations. "Wh...
