*taps mic* Is this still on?
Oh, hey there BlogWorld. I may have been a little busy, and life may have gotten away from me. And I am so sorry I have neglected you for... month. Will you ever forgive me?
Now let's cover what's been keeping me away.
First foremost, home ownership. Oh, this is a hard thing to do. We unpacked, had a rad housewarming party, and then went "What the hell do we do now?"
I can tell you yard work is beyond me. My dreams of a beautiful garden have turned to the harsh realities that I hate bugs, I don't like being in the sun, and damnit that neighbor across the street needs to stop telling me I am pulling flowers. I don't care! I wanted them all gone (fresh start and all).
So, my dreams went from this:
To this:
Next year I hope to actually landscape. I'm accepting volunteers to help out. because I am a little clueless.
We (well, I) also have plans for interior painting, window replacement, wiring upgrades, and eventual other things homeowner types like me do. So, it will be an adventure in home improvements, for sure. But, I have a stack of books to not read about all of it.
Next comes work. Yes, I work from home. There are certain perks to this, but it is still work. In the Summer months our inventory is all over the place so, while I do not have to wear pants on a regular basis, my plate is mighty full with projects, deadlines, and expectations.
And of course, Roller Derby.
This season I am the person of the many hats!
The biggest hat I wear is the Captains Hat! I love this hat but it is a heavy one. I get to advocate for my team on and off the track and guide them with the help of my Co-Captain to great things. We work together in our matching hats.
The next size down, though no less heavy, is "Trainer". With the help of my training buddy we plan practices and drills to assist the team in getting better.
Then we have the Public Relations hat. This one is new and shiny. This is my first time on PR and I have no idea what I am doing. So far all I do it go on the radio and talk to folks about this and that. I'm a face.
And finally we have the old and beat up skater's hat. I am still a skater, though sometimes I forget I still have it. I get so wrapped up in all the other things I have to do, I forget that I need to remember my own skills and needs as a skater. I think others forget, too. I find myself wanting to coach more than play only because I feel a strong sense of duty to do so. I need reminders people... "HEY IRATE! You're a skater too! Don't forget!" This reminder will be helpful... because I am skating on the Bombs!
And, it should never go without mentioning... the Tin Foil Hat. In homage of Bettie OffDead... I make sure it's on stand by, for "those days".
All of that said, I am super proud that the Granite Skate Troopers won a game back in May. This was our first official win since 2010. We are playing this Saturday at the JFK in Manchester against the Seabrook Meltdowns again to see who moves on to the Championships. It's exciting.
So, there we have it. All the things that keep me away from blogging here. (Excluding cross training and finding time to sleep).
I hope to get back to Glass Adventures and Motorcycle Adventures soon!

| This is (most of) the team! They kick ass and make me uber-proud to be one of their captains! |
