Let's Get Started

With 2014 officially behind us, I am looking forward to 2015 and all the potential there is. I am mostly talking about Roller Derby and all the changes about to come through on my league.

First, we announced a new Logo. This is for the league as well as our two travel teams. The All Star team and the B-Team will travel under the same Logo and uniform to help with better branding and PR.

There it is! NH Represented and a show of Athleticism
I love it because it still closely resembles the All Star logo from the least two years so we are not taking a huge leap.

With so many of our previous All Stars retiring, we (NHRD) are also looking at a shift in team dynamic. We want to stay competitive for sure, but we want a more cohesive team. The last two years were fiercely competitive on the team and on the track. I am sure the captains of both the travel teams will want to keep a competitive roster for both teams, but I am also sure they will attempt to foster a more cohesive team structure.

On a personal note: I had thought last season was my last season with NHRD. All my Derby Mammas have either retired or moved on to other leagues. After Tank'd Girl retired at the end of 2012, I was the most tenured member of NHRD. I had honestly seen everyone join NHRD that was there at that moment. It was October '14 that I looked at my life and said "I am not quite ready" and I decided to stay.

Retiring from a sport that has been a huge part of your life for so long is hard. I have been "retiring" for three years now. I am not sure when I will finally take the leap, but it won't be this year.

I have seen this league go from a dozen skaters at Roller Kingdom getting in some extra practice at open skates and wishing we had enough skaters for a scrimmage, to Division 1 play off status within WFTDA. I want to see what else we can and will do. Maybe we won't be division 1 but we could dominate Division 2 if we work for it! The possibilities are endless and I want to see where the road goes.

With that, I have new skates and a fresh outlook for the year. I hope to see many amazing things!

New Bonts with Avenger Plates! Thanks Mr Pirate!!
Also, I made the team! I was drafted on 1/18/2015 onto the Travel Roster! What does that mean? It means I am hoping/planning to travel as far as I can, and skate as often as I can. I am going to train, and work hard... not just for me, for my team!

#oneleagueonelove
That's the motto!

See you track side!
