Friday of ECDX!

Well, I had one hell of an amazing weekend. I met some derby idols, was too shy to talk to others, played with Glass, and made some amazing friends.
(That was your "too long, didn't read" version that should cover the next three posts.)

So here is the beginning... Friday!

The weekend began early Friday morning. Birds were chirping, the sun was rising, clouds floated gentlry past my window and I awoke refreshed from a peaceful nights sleep. I was ready for the long drive to Feasterville, PA fro ECDX 2013!
Or, it was more like this...
At least there was coffee ready.
I was so nervous I forgot to pack things I was up until almost 1am. I tossed and turned, repacked a few times, and eventually slept some.

Once I was finally caffeinated, I was ready to begin. So, I loaded my things and waited for DKB and JC to arrive (and drank more coffee). Once they arrived we headed out, stopped for Gas and were bound for Atari's. And then... we were OFF!
Really, I had some of the best carpoolies ever! We were like this almost the whole time...
We rocked out to some Violent Femmes pretty hard.
This was especially true when we were stuck in NYC traffic. We really were amusing to some folks driving (or stopped) near us.

We arrived in record time (considering we went over the George Washington Bridge) checked into the Crowne Plaza Hotel and then immediately went to check in and wander the venue.
Friday night alone was some great Derby! I watched a few minutes of the Mass Maelstrom game, some of the Philly vs Gotham (wish I had seen more, Jr Derby (YAY!) and some of Texas versus Gotham. Great derby happened. Also, I met the first person to say "Oh. My. God! GLASS!"

His reaction was one of my favorites of the weekend. Apparently he thought these bad boys were a Google April Fools day joke! Nope! They are real, JR. Very real and on my face. He asked me to send him a copy of the picture (which I just did). I hope he had as great a weekend as I did.
Here are some pictures (through Glass) of ECDX:
Pixie and Shocker always got great seats.

Almost all the Lanyards!

Dee Stortion of Boston in her booth for Bruised Boutique. She told me she thought Glass was neat!

About half time through the Tx vs Gotham bout we decided to head back to the hotel room, order some late night pizza, and relax. My captain, Thistle... did not approve of our late night dinner
Captain Thistle disapproves of Late Night Pizza!!!  "Is that really what you should be eating before bed?!"

After we hung out for a while with Douche, Deck, and Thistle, it was time for some sleep. Our bout was Saturday... and we wanted to be ready.
