Sunday of ECDX

Finally getting to this post.
Sunday of ECDX was a lot of watching derby action as well as some amazing reactions to Google Glass! We watched Columbia, Team USA, I saw the final moments of Philly vs Windy (wow!)... and much more!

In lieu of posting a play by play I suggest reading my captions:

Mr. (Dan) Monet tried on Glass and he added to my pictures of myself through Glass. :-)

This guy was amazed! I let him try on Glass and he was astounded and stated he could not WAIT to get a pair of his own. Also, he and his friend had some of the BEST Ice Cream I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.

The guys at Concessions had no clue. They were amazed at technology in general. I do not think they were Amish, but I also am in doubt they have smart phones.
I could not get Philly vs Windy to upload here... so I put it on YouTube!


We met while watching Team USA vs Team Canada. This is her reaction as she watched me take her picture via the screen cast. I am sorry new friend... I forgot your name. :-( I hope you remembered mine so you could read this blog, and I hope someday to see you again!

The Grey Lady

For FolkeWood questing, I was tasked by Neil with creating a living statue costume. And by tasked, I mean I jumped at the chance to do it. So, how did it all come together? Well, it was weeks of research, planning, and execution with the aid of several people. I feel that the Realms would benefit from knowing how things were made when it comes to big costumes and props. I also hope that with this, we can up our costuming game. Let’s start with the dress. We knew the look we were going for was pseudo Greek. I scoured Halloween costumes for the right piece. I found this : As you can see, it is not in the least bit grey, nor was it in any way stiff. With help from Jana “Jynx” Greene and a little more research we found that the next step was to cover the whole dress in Liquid Latex. Jana found the Rub-R-Mold Liquid Latex. Idaho! The Zen of Losing

Well Blog-o-verse, we knew when I started this thing I was bad at updates. Luckily we have had some adventures, so I have something to write about (finally). NH Roller Derby sent the All Stars team to Idaho for the 5th annual Spudtown Knockdown tournament. We went in with high hopes of taking at least one win and having close games, but that was just not to be. We experienced something teams have happen all the time; The Blow Out. Yep, we lost and we lost hard with each game. But, while losing, something wonderful happened. I have been on the All Stars team off and on since 2008 (2013 and 2014, I declined the opportunity to try out). For the first time (that I can remember) not a single person gave up on our bench, no one was blamed or shamed, everyone was given a chance to play and show their worth, every skater smiled and pushed hard, and no one was angry at the rest of the team.
